- Air is drawn into the unit by a high-capacity fan.
- The air passes over a cold evaporator coil.

- Water drains through a gravity drain or internal pump.
- The air passes through the condenser coil where it is reheated.
- The air returns to the room slightly warmer and significantly drier.
- The automatic defrost system prevents frost buildup.
- The humidistat cycles the system on and off to maintain the selected humidity level.
