Replace shear or nibbler blades when they produce ragged or torn edges instead of clean cuts, require noticeably more feed force to advance, or leave a pronounced burr along the cut line. Blades can often be resharpened one to three times before they need replacing outright. Nibbler punch-and-die sets should be replaced together as a matched pair — swapping only one half throws off the clearance and accelerates wear on the component you kept.

Store lithium-ion batteries at a partial charge of roughly 40 to 60 percent rather than fully charged or completely depleted, both of which accelerate cell degradation over time. Keep them in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, ideally at room temperature (15–25 °C). Remove the battery from the tool for storage lasting more than a few weeks, and top up the charge every few months during extended non-use to prevent the cells from dropping to a damaging low state.

Under normal professional use, a quality lithium-ion power tool battery typically delivers two to five years of service, or several hundred charge-discharge cycles, before capacity noticeably declines. Actual lifespan depends on cycle frequency, storage conditions, and exposure to heat or cold. Storing batteries correctly, avoiding full discharges, and keeping them away from extreme temperatures are the three most effective ways to get maximum life from a replacement pack.
